Take part in our amazing Kindergarten Teaching Volunteer Project in the Hua Hin region of Thailand. Gain first hand teaching experience and help deliver vital education to the children of local communities. Help develop the prospects of school children through delivering invaluable education which is bound to build their confidence and ability. In this program, you will prepare teaching lessons for children, help them with their daily activities and chores and put them down for a nap. You will have plenty of time to relax from lunchtime onwards and enjoy swimming in the tranquil sea water at a local secluded beach. Alternatively, volunteers are free to remain at the school in the afternoon and continue teaching and playing with the children alongside the local teachers and staff.

  • Engage with the local children and teach them basic English
  • Gain practical experience in teaching young children
  • Assist and support the local teachers and staff

To book an activity with us we require you to participate for a minimum of two weeks. Therefore, you would need to book a quantity of two for this activity, unless you choose a separate activity to go with it. See the ‘Related trips…’ section for more options. We also offer a cultural immersion week, so talk to us if you would like to add this too, as it is a great way of settling in, learning cultural aspects of the country you are visiting and meeting new people.

Kindergarten Teaching Volunteer Project

During your time at this childcare program, you will be working with children from age 2.5 to 6 years old at a local children’s development centre/kindergarten located in Hua Hin in the morning, which you will be expected to work there for 2-3 hours from 09:00 – 11:30 AM. Many children’s care development centres and kindergartens in Hua Hin are facing a teacher shortage problem. In some placements, there are up to 30 children packed in a classroom, which is difficult for only one teacher to give each individual child as much attention as they need.

You will play an important role assisting local teachers and providing them a helping hand in the classroom. To help young children learn, practice their English and enjoy their introduction to basic educational concepts, you will be using your creative skills through songs, dances, games, and repetition exercises. As many local Thai teachers are usually not fluent in English, with your help, you will be providing them a chance to start practicing English at an early age. It is important that children see how foreigners speak and understand English through listening to various accents, and, as a result, this increases children’s overall learning experience as well as their confidence in speaking to foreigners in general.

Before participants go to the placement, they will work with local coordinators and review the teaching lessons, materials and activities for that day to ensure continuous lesson plans for children.

Criminal Records Check
We require you to complete a criminal records check in order to take part in this experience. We can accept those that have been done in the last two years if you have the certificate. In the UK it can be done through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), in the USA further details can be found on Travel.State.Gov, otherwise please search for your local service provider. We may also request a reference from a reliable source. You must supply these to us before departure and also take a copy with you to present to the in-country team.

Why do we require a criminal background check?
1) Ensuring a safe environment is conducive to learning, productivity and overall positive experiences for everyone involved.

2) We implement thorough screening processes and we are committed to safety and integrity, fostering trust among participants and the local community.

3) Conducting background checks serves as a preventive measure, deterring individuals with questionable backgrounds from attempting to participate in our programme.

4) Safeguards vulnerable people from potential harm within the programme.

You can arrive any weekend of the year.

Our pick up window from Bangkok International Airport (BKK) is on Sundays between 08:00 and 15:00. Arrivals outside this will incur a further charge. The transfer time to Hua Hin is approximately 3hrs.

Note from mid March, mid May and all of October it is school holidays, so various camps are put on to serve the community. There will be games and outdoor activities delivered. Additionally you will be offered other placement work in the community if you want it and what is relevant at the time you visit.
