An increasingly popular activity for sixth forms is to run a team building activity day.

As part of the Changing Worlds selection process we interview all applicants to see if they are aware of the challenges ahead.

Within this process we have a series of activities that are designed to challenge our applicants.
These challenges might include:

  • Spiders web
  • Peg game
  • Plank race
  • Shanty house construction
  • Nuclear fall out
  • Crocodile river
  • Propel an egg

The activities are designed to be fun and entertaining. However whilst the students are enjoying themselves they do tend to build relationships with others that they may not have interacted with before.

This can fit nicely with a careers day at the end of year 12 or at the beginning of year 13. Equally with students coming in to the sixth form especially if they come in from a number of 'feeder schools'.

Changing Worlds would cover the staffing for the activities - most of our staff are former volunteers and have been away with us. They are used to running the activities. We do, however, value the support of the teachers in the school. Experience tells us that the teachers value observing their students during the activities as it provides a further insight in to the strengths and weaknesses.

Changing Worlds asks that a donation be made to one of our fundraising activities throughout the World. In the past we have focussed on our volunteer projects in India, Kenya and Thailand. This year we are focussing on a rural music project in Uganda.

We are happy to provide the details of these particular projects.
