As a former Head of Geography and sixth form tutor David Gill, the founder and director of Changing Worlds, has experienced outside speakers coming in. Whilst we appreciate the value that these speakers bring to the students we are aware that the quality can vary tremendously.
This is where Changing Worlds can help you.
We would be very happy to come in to your school or college at no cost.
We offer a presentation about gap years.
The outline of the presentation is provided below:
- Introducing the ‘gap year’ concept and the ‘windows of opportunity’.
- Considering the advantages and the disadvantages of choosing the gap year option.
- Introducing the wide range of options available including volunteering in the UK, independent travel, expedition and conservation projects.
- Identifying resources (publications, books, careers information services, teachers and tutors, web sites) to help make an informed decision.
- Realising the need for advanced and careful planning.
- Introducing the work of Changing Worlds and the opportunities we offer (through slides, stories and music)
- Providing a fact sheet for students to take away for their reference.
There are opportunities for questions at the end of the session.
These talks have proved popular with teachers and students alike. Many teachers have commented, not only on the entertainment and ‘inspirational’ factors, but also on the informative content.
We can supply a power point projector and CD player. We ask that you supply a screen, a lap top and an extension lead.
This presentation can be tailored to your timetable or assembly requirements.
If you would like to know more about these talks then please telephone on 01883 340960 or e-mail to david@changingworlds.co.uk.
