Changing Worlds is offering the opportunity to teach and/or coach sport in local children in local schools. Our placements are in Umtata and Lydenburg.

The schools are mainly mixed primary (7 to 13 years old) and secondary schools (14+) – you can choose.

In the classroom your main input will be teaching English to th kids  but there are opportunities to teach other subjects – namely maths, natural sciences, technology, music, drama and public speaking! The children have a limited knowledge of the English language. One school is particularly interested in gaining volunteers who have a passion for poetry.

Outside the classroom there are plenty of opportunities to teach the children sport. Rugby is the obvious sport to teach the children but with the soccer World Cup looming we know that football is going to take off. There is also the chance to teach and coach cricket, swimming, hockey and tennis.
